Amphipods/Copepods:
Upon receipt of the pods, you will notice that there is a piece of filter media. This is the same type of media used in wet/dry filters therefore safe to add to your aquarium.
PLEASE NOTE - WE DO NOT SHIP OUR PODS IN WATER - WATCH THE VIDEO ABOVE TO FIND OUT WHY!!
Want your Pods to reproduce?
If your desire is to have the pods reproduce, adding them to your tank AFTER you turn the display lights off is best. Otherwise your fish will have a yummy treat before they get a chance to hide within your rock. You can put the piece of filter media inside a crevice of rock and leave it there indefinitely. The pods will slowly make their way from the media into the rock. You can check their success rate by shining a flashlight into the tank after lights out. For best success, put a red balloon over the end of the flashlight- this will give you a chance to see them before they scurry away. Remember, adult copepods range in size from .5mm-1mm. They are SMALL. Also you will receive varying "ages" of pods- adults, teens, babies, etc...If you do not SEE them do not be concerned, they are there. Amphipods are easier to see as they range in size from 2-5mm in length.
